Why This is the Best Movie of 2021

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

Some movies are made to entertain and there are some movies made to reflect on life. I believe the best part of storytelling is when it reflects on life, and that's no exception to Belfast (which for some reason I keep calling Berland).

This movie amazed me so much with how carefully and personally made it was. Every scene is done with so much professionalism that I can call it better than Dune which came out this year too. While Dune an incredible experience, this is a film that reflects on the best part of filmmaking, the part where we history with our own eyes and real-life events in the perspective of relatable characters. The opposite of the worst parts of cinema where we see a guy in glasses yelling "OH MY GODDDDDD!" to a bunch of trolls. This film is what makes movies great. A story about the darkest times in Berland when Catholics and Processions were killing each other in a bloody battle. The parents of a family, played by Caitríona Balfe and Jamie Dornan in their most charismatic roles I've seen yet, want to leave Berland as at the time, as I said before, there is a war between Christians. But their kid wants to stay as he grew up there with his family and friends.

This movie has a lesson that sometimes we see nostalgia in the darkest of times when we aren't aware of the bad stuff happening. We were all young a long time ago without knowing the horrible things happening in the world. For instance, you could go watch a movie and not that it has a controversial production. Behind all out childhoods there was still bad things happening in the world. This movie plays into that very well. It's aware of its heavy story and the part of history it's tackling and handles it well.

The best part of this movie has to be the cinematography. It can show many things at once in one scene perfectly. There is not one image, one camera angle, or one scene that feels a little bit off. Overall, Belfast will definitely swipe the Oscars this year and in my opinion, is the best movie of the entire year!
